missing the inner heat, life gets colder

I received my glorious TAFL approval e-mail September 10, 2007, and was so delighted that I spammed about it in my LJ literally 10 seconds afterwards. Seriously, words cannot describe how awesome it is that I get to own the Samurai Champloo fanlisting. It's one of those series that just hits you in the face, and there's no turning back.

The name Beat of Fortune was made up on the spot. I wanted something to match Samurai Champloo's funky, unique qualities -- as much as I love the lyrics in Battlecry, the OP theme, everyone uses them for site titles. There's no real meaning to the name, but 'beat' is supposed to allude to the hip-hop theme of the show, while 'fortune' refers to chance. Fuu, Jin, and Mugen met each other purely by chance, and many of their adventures resulted from coincidence. For instance, it was a coin flip that decided that Jin and Mugen would travel with Fuu -- even if Fuu cheated. ;)
